What Solar Buyers Actually Ask: 15 Real Questions From 13 Years of Inquiries

Every question on this page came from a real buyer — a contact form submission, an email thread going back to 2013, or a comment on a solar video. No hypotheticals. If you're sourcing solar panels, cells, or a complete off-grid setup, your question is almost certainly answered below.

Custom & OEM

"Can you make a solar panel in a custom size or shape?"

Yes — custom dimensions, cut cells, and custom laminates are a big part of what we do. Recent inquiries include a 1200×50mm custom laminate and 2×4mm bare microcells in quantities of 20–100 pieces. Small custom jobs are welcome. See custom flexible solar panels and custom solar panels for what's possible.

"Do you do OEM or private label?"

Yes. Junction box position, cable length and connector, backing material, and packaging with your branding are all configurable. A buyer who started with samples in 2015 later put us on their approved vendor list and has ordered monthly since — that's the relationship OEM works best as.

"Can I get samples before committing to an order?"

Always, and most serious buyers do. Send the spec you need and we quote the sample cost with it. Production pricing is confirmed with your quote.

Off-grid & remote power

"How do I run a security camera pole on solar?"

Size the panel and battery to the camera's daily watt-hours plus the autonomy you need. We've supplied a 22-pole port project with 48 hours of autonomy, and a 4-camera system in British Columbia. The math starts with your camera's draw — use our 12V battery runtime calculator to see how long a battery runs your load, then send us the camera spec and we'll size the rest.

"Can you power monitoring stations — water level, bridge, transmission lines?"

Yes. Solar plus battery is the standard power source for remote monitoring, and buyers have asked us about river water-level stations, bridge health monitoring, and transmission-line sensors. For grid-adjacent sites, hybrid setups that combine solar with line-powered charging also come up. Tell us the load and the location and we'll propose a power budget.

"How long will my battery actually last?"

Depends on usable capacity, not the number on the label. A 100 Ah lead-acid battery gives you roughly 600 usable watt-hours; the same rating in LiFePO4 gives about 1,080. Our battery runtime calculator does the math in ten seconds, including inverter losses.

Marine & RV

"Flexible or rigid glass for a boat?"

Flexible panels win on weight and low-profile mounting — important on a bimini or cabin top. Glass wins on lifespan and walk-on durability. Buyers running serious house loads on catamarans often mix both. If weight matters, start with custom flexible panels and leave an air gap under them.

"Why is my flexible panel peeling or losing output?"

Almost always heat and mounting. Panels glued flat to a roof cook; a 1-inch air gap underneath keeps them cool and makes future removal painless. Output that drops within the first year usually traces back to heat or partial shading from antennas and rails.

"What size panel do I need for my camper van?"

Work backwards from daily watt-hours: add up everything you run, multiply by hours of use, and pick a panel (or panels) that replace that amount where you actually camp. Cloudy regions need 30–50% more panel than the headline math suggests. If you tell us your loads, we'll size it.

The buying process

"What's your MOQ?"

MOQ depends on the product — ask us for the MOQ on your item. Custom and standard products have different minimums, and they change with the spec, so we quote the real number with your exact requirement rather than a generic one.

"How long does production and delivery take?"

Lead time is confirmed with your quote, because it depends on the product and customization. Standard items move faster than custom laminates; we'll give you the real number before you commit.

"What payment terms do you work with?"

Standard export terms by bank transfer, in USD or CNY. Details come with your quote.

"Do you ship to my country?"

Yes. We've shipped to buyers across North America, Europe, Oceania, and East Asia since 2013, including repeat orders that have run for years.

"Can you supply the whole setup — panel, charge controller, battery?"

Yes. A matched setup beats pieced-together parts: the controller protects the battery, the panel feeds the controller at the right voltage, and the battery covers your nights. Read our guide on sizing a charge controller for a 12V battery bank, or just tell us the load and we'll propose the full kit.

"My project is small — dozens of pieces, not container loads. Is that worth asking about?"

Yes. A large share of our inquiries are small custom runs — cells, small laminates, brackets, samples for a first evaluation. Small orders are how most of our decade-long buyer relationships started.
